The Middletown Library, located in far Eastern Jefferson
County, serves residents from a municipal building also housing the Louisville
Metro Police’s 8th Division, a County Clerk’s office, Driver’s Licensing
bureau, Vocational Rehabilitation, and a Department of Health office.
History: The original Middletown Branch opened in Eastern
High School in 1962 and was one of four Louisville Free Public Library
Libraries located in Jefferson County Public Schools. This library closed in
1980, reopening on April 29, 1985, in a shared building with offices of the
City of Middletown. The Library outgrew this location and in February of 1989
moved to its present location in the East Government Center.
There are no fees charged for meeting room use.
